Drains Batteries! – M. Murphy – USAThis was a gift from work and it was awful. The camera drains batteries. Two batteries will last for about 10 pictures, max. The flash is awful and the delay between taking the picture and the camera to actually takes it is a HUGE problem. Do yourself a favor and get anything BUT this camera. You will hate it with a passion no doubt.
Very Disappointed – Targer Shopper – What a disappointment. Vivitar has been making cameras for a long time now, and with all the features on this camera, I was expecting something that would be really good. WRONG! Right out of the box, the quality of this 5 MP camera is bad. My cell phone takes better pictures. With the flash on, every picture is whitewashed and extremely bright and you can’t even see the picture. Without the flash, every picture is dark and you can’t even tell what the picture is supposed to be. We have adjusted the camera and everything is still the same. Going to try and take it back. Won’t buy a Vivitar ever again.

I bought this camera as an extra carry along camera for when I didn’t want to use my higher priced digital camera due to rain, etc. I wanted one to just toss in the console of my truck and not worry about getting it scratched and such. For the price, I wasn’t expecting outstanding pictures and this camera is adequate. It does need a louder “beep” when the shutter button is pressed, sometimes I don’t know that a picture was taken or not until I look. Other than that I have no problems with it and would recommend it as a camera to use for quick snapshots where high resolution isn’t needed. Think of it as one of the ‘disposable’ film cameras you can get in stores.
Vivitar ViviCam 5018 is an easy to use and affordable digital camera. It features very compact and lightweight and is perfect for all occasions. It also features flash with red eye reduction.
good price – J. Contois – I just picked up this camera at walgreens for 29.99 (reg 49.99). Was very happy with the price!!! Camera is a gift for a 7 yr old so I won’t be to disappointed with it for that price. Still a better camera then the kids cameras wich have less then 3 MP.
Warning: This is a toy camera. – Curious Mark – Austin, TXWarning: This is a toy camera. You cannot set the date and time, and the internal clock does not advance when power is off. So all of your photos will always have the wrong date and time. The photo software is not included on the CD that comes with the camera; you have to be connected to the internet when you put the CD into your computer, and wait for the program to download (forever with dialup). The camera has anti-shake, but it defaults to anti-shake off. It is difficult to snap a picture without shaking the camera severely, and ruining the shot. At night you cannot see anything in the viewfinder, so you have to take your best guess when aiming. The flash does not compensate for distance from the subject, so most night shots are too bright or too dim; terrible results for night photography.

All fuzzy all the time, or No Christmas Memories for me… – Kalina – I wasn’t expecting miracles with this camera. But, I was thinking it would be an inexpensive way to get some simple snap shot quality pictures of the holidays with my family and friends.
Every picture is blurry. I thought it was me. Maybe I have a tremor. So, I set the timer, set the camera on a counter top so there was NO WAY it was shaking. And yet, blurry picture. I got better pictures with a disposable cardboard camera which was expired and on sale at the local drug store for 5.00.
The “users guide” is a mini pamphlet and of little use but with a little poking around you can find all the menus and functions on the camera. They aren’t intuitive really but they aren’t completely useless.
Sure, it is small and light. Pop in batteries and an SD card (all sold separately) and you are ready to go.
But, my mother passed away this year. I really wanted to have some lasting images of the holiday with my dad, the only family I have left. I wish I could invest a hefty chunk of change into a nice digital camera. But I can’t. I hoped this would at least get the job done for a few easy pics of cookie making, silly sweaters and morning coffee. It failed. Miserably. I wouldn’t even advise this as a kids camera.
